Nutrition

Our Registered Dietitians (also referred to as Nutritionists) have specialized training and expertise in nutrition and how it relates to health, risk reduction, disease management and optimal performance.  HUHS dietitians provide advice on a variety of nutrition issues.  Some of the topics we cover include sports nutrition; vegetarian nutrition; managing cholesterol; diabetes or high blood pressure; eating concerns; and eating well on-the-run.  Appointments for student athletes are also available at Dillon Field House; contact your trainer for more information.  Appointment times vary; please call for availability.

What To Expect
Your initial appointment with the dietitian will typically be about 45 minutes. Your consultation will include a review of your past nutrition and relevant medical history, a discussion of your goals and perceived barriers to meeting them, and development of a Nutrition Plan to meet your goals. Sessions are generally more productive when thought is given to goals and objectives before the appointment and when several days of food records are brought to the first session.

Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes and are scheduled within 2-6 weeks depending upon the nature of the referral.
