After Hours Urgent Care Clinic

The After Hours Urgent Care Clinic (AHUCC) is open nights, weekends, and holidays for 24-hour urgent care throughout the year.  We are available to provide advice and treatment of urgent health problems (physical or emotional) including sudden, serious and unexpected illnesses, injuries, or conditions which require immediate attention.  Whenever possible, you are encouraged to call your primary care team or mental health care provider for advice during regular office hours; ideally, you should use the AHUCC for issues that cannot wait until regular clinic hours. If you feel you need medical or mental health attention but are not sure as to the urgency of the situation, you may call first to obtain advice from the nurse on duty.  

The entrance to the AHUCC is midway down the parking ramp beneath Holyoke Center, accessible from both Dunster and Holyoke Streets, near the Mt. Auburn Street end of the block; students who require transportation to the AHUCC are advised to call the Harvard University Police Department at 617- 495-1212. 

Services
The After Hours Urgent Care Clinic is staffed by a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and medical assistants who are ready to meet your needs for urgent care.  Please be aware that patients with more serious conditions may be seen before others.

What To Expect
The After Hours Urgent Care Clinic is equipped to offer urgent care services when a department or clinic is closed.  We are equipped to provide clinical services and relevant diagnostic testing as appropriate.  If you have a very serious condition that cannot be fully evaluated or treated at HUHS, we will arrange to transfer you to a hospital emergency room. In the event that you are transferred, be sure to contact Member Services or your medical insurance company regarding coverage.

What To Do In Case Of Emergency
Life-threatening Emergencies. An emergency is a serious injury or the sudden onset of an illness that may endanger your life or cause permanent impairment.  If you are experiencing a life-threatening concern, call 911 (or 9-911 from a campus phone) or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.  If you feel you may need medical or mental health attention but are not sure as to the urgency of the situation, you may call first to obtain advice from the nurse on duty.

Note: most health plans require you or a family member to contact them when medically able (within 24 hours) to arrange follow-up care and confirm coverage. Consult Member Services or your medical insurance plan for details.
